Hello my name is Tutti Frutti, I am a brooch, created for the BOM project, by a mad woman, who is obsessed with dipping pom poms into wax.
I’m not alone here, 11 other fellow brooches and 12 hosts, await to be worn/wear us. Unknown journeys ahead. To be swaped every month for a year. To be touched, poked, laughed at, critisised, admired and ignored.
Challenging the wearers to take me on an outing, being in the lime light with these fascinating people, stirring discussions about my existence and being a character in a story or just remaining a memory.
At the same time it leaves me worried about being too bold, too pink and too fidgity to put on. Being left in my box in the dark, ending up at the bottom of a handbag, getting crushed by a seatbelt or even lost, is the biggest fear of all my fellow friends out there.
What really strikes me, is that my presence causes communication, and that feels quite empowering.
I seem so delicate and very often get associated with lollies, *“ We’ll eat you up, we love you so”. Being pink isn’t always very successful and my specs cause some questions!
I guess I am quite an “in your face“ kind of a brooch and sometimes did end up wearing the wearer. Overall, although I smell, I seem to be a “sweet” experience and that’s a good thing, no?
I feel extremley lucky to be a part of this experiment, the encounters shared by the incredibly interesting group of hosts, that care enough about my existence to spend some time with me and document our stories in a little yellow book.
A big thank you to my fairy god mother, without you I would have never been born.
Life is good being a brooch, sweet…
